      Burgess, R-Texas —

Amendment that would specify that the separate registration requirement would not apply so long as the site of transporting and dispensing is not a "principal place of business or professional practice."

The underlying bill would allow veterinarians to transport and dispense drugs off site from their practices.

    Adopted by voice vote.

Feb. 27, 2014 — Subcommittee Vote: Off-Site Drug Transport and Administration by Veterinarians — Vote to Approve

Allow veterinarians who register with the Drug Enforcement Administration to administer controlled substances to be able to transport and dispense these drugs off site as part of their usual course of practicing veterinary medicine, without having to get additional registrations. They could only do so within the state where they’re licensed to practice veterinary medicine and, as amended, is not a "principal place of business or professional practice."

Approved for full committee consideration (as amended) by voice vote.
